Life Feeling Too Much?

Let’s find a way through together.

Feeling Overwhelmed

At times, life can feel like too much to handle. Feeling overwhelmed is a common response to stress, pressure, or emotional overload – and it can affect your mental and physical wellbeing if it continues over time.

You might feel overwhelmed if you’re juggling too many responsibilities, facing difficult life changes, dealing with financial pressure, or experiencing conflict in relationships. It can also stem from a lack of support or feeling like you’re carrying everything on your own.

Common signs of feeling overwhelmed include:

  • Heightened anxiety, frustration, or irritability
  • Trouble focusing or making decisions
  • Physical symptoms like fatigue, tension, or headaches
  • Feeling on edge or emotionally sensitive
  • A sense of losing control or being unable to cope

If this sounds familiar, know that you’re not alone – and there are ways to manage these feelings.

What can help?

Start by giving yourself space to breathe – even a short break can help you reset. Try calming techniques like deep breathing, going for a walk, or listening to music. Organising your to-do list and breaking tasks into manageable steps can reduce the pressure. And importantly, don’t be afraid to ask for support.

Talking therapies can help you explore what’s causing your overwhelm and give you tools to cope. You can self-refer and speak to one of our trained therapists here in Derby and Derbyshire.
