Healthy Living, Healthy Minds

What is the Healthy Living, Healthy Minds (HLHM) programme?
Our Healthy Living, Healthy Minds programme is designed to support you in improving your mental wellbeing by making positive lifestyle changes. Through expert-led webinars, online fitness sessions, and 1-to-1 telephone coaching, you’ll be supported to build habits that benefit both your physical and emotional health.
The programme typically runs for 6–12 weeks and is suitable for anyone receiving support from Derby and Derbyshire Talking Therapies.
Why does lifestyle matter?
Research shows that physical activity, good nutrition, sleep, and balanced routines can have a major impact on mental wellbeing. HLHM helps you explore which aspects of your lifestyle might be affecting how you feel—and gives you the tools to make meaningful, achievable changes.
We’ll also address any concerns, barriers, or beliefs that may be getting in the way of living a healthier life.
What’s included in the programme?
Initial Assessment
You’ll start with a 60-minute individual assessment. This is a chance to explore your current lifestyle, set personal goals, and talk through any specific areas you’d like to focus on.
The Programme Itself
Over the following weeks, you’ll take part in:
- Weekly webinars on topics such as improving sleep, managing motivation, eating for wellbeing, and the link between exercise and mental health
- Beginner-friendly virtual exercise classes, including boxercise, strength and balance, stretch and relax, and more
- Weekly one-to-one coaching calls, where you’ll receive personalised guidance and encouragement to help you stay on track with your goals
All sessions are online and accessible via your smartphone, tablet, or computer—so you can take part from home at times that work for you.
What will I get out of it?
By the end of the programme, you’ll have a better understanding of how lifestyle affects your mental health, greater confidence in managing day-to-day wellbeing, and personalised strategies to help you maintain the progress you’ve made.
