Guidance for Health Professionals

Derby and Derbyshire Talking Therapies provides support for adults experiencing mild to moderate symptoms of anxiety, depression, and related mental health difficulties.

This is not a crisis service.

We are not able to provide emergency mental health care or risk management support for individuals in immediate distress. Patients requiring urgent or high-risk intervention should be referred to appropriate crisis services.

Who we can support

Our service is available to anyone aged 16 and over who is registered with a GP in Derby or Derbyshire.

We support individuals with conditions including:

  • Depression or persistent low mood
  • Generalised anxiety and excessive worry
  • Stress-related difficulties
  • Health anxiety
  • Social anxiety
  • Phobias
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Insomnia
  • Adjustment to long-term physical health conditions

Therapies and Formats Offered

We provide a range of NICE-recommended treatment options, which may include:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Digital CBT programmes
  • Guided self-help and psychoeducational webinars
  • Psychological wellbeing practitioner support
  • Mindfulness-based and group therapies

Treatment is delivered in various formats including one-to-one, online, and group sessions, depending on clinical need and client preference.
