Feeling Lonely?

You’re not alone – support is here.

Understanding Loneliness

Loneliness is more than just being alone – it’s the emotional pain of feeling disconnected, unseen, or unsupported. It’s something most people experience at some point, regardless of age, background, or circumstances.

Being aware of loneliness matters, because it can impact both your mental and physical health. Persistent loneliness has been linked to conditions like depression, anxiety, and long-term stress.

Why might I feel lonely?

There are many reasons you might feel isolated or alone. Perhaps you’ve experienced a life change such as a move, bereavement, or relationship breakdown. You might find social situations difficult or feel like you don’t have anyone to talk to – even in a room full of people.

Signs you may be feeling lonely include:

    • Low mood or sadness
    • Trouble sleeping or changes in appetite
    • Withdrawing from activities or avoiding social situations
    • Feeling anxious or disconnected
    • A sense that no one truly understands you

How can I get support?

You don’t have to face loneliness alone. Building connections – whether through a chat with a friend, joining a group, or finding a community – can make a big difference. If loneliness is affecting your mental health, talking therapies can help you explore what’s behind the feeling and build strategies to reconnect with life.
